What is Homestake?
Homestake is a scheme set up by Communities Scotland to help low income people get a foot on the property ladder. The deals works in a similar way to shared ownership, with part of the property being owned by a Homestake social landlord and part owned by the resident. You can use the Homestake calculator to work out how much you can afford to repay each month now, and then buy back your share of the property in the future. Generally aimed at first time buyers who are unable to afford the high costs of property and mortgage deposits, Homestake is also useful for people who have had a sudden change in circumstances, for example a divorce or separation.

Created by Communities Scotland, Edinburgh Council and Glasgow Council Homestake is a scheme currently only available in Scotland. Our Homestake mortgage calculator can help you work out what your payments could be. Homestake is aimed at people who fall into one or more of the following categories:
